Liturgy from Sunday

Here is a copy of the Liturgy on Sunday.  Great prayer and burning of the things we don’t want to take in to 2015.

17.1.15 written by Jo Hawkes

One of my favourite verses is: 2 Corinthians V3-7

Praise be to the God and Father of our lord Jesus Christ, the father of compassion and the God of all comfort,

who comforts in our troubles, so that we can comfort those in ANY trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

I’m aware that we are all together today whilst so much is going on in the news, the world. But Id like us first to just spend a minute to remind ourselves of who we are and the broader picture. My hope is that by being comforted and allowing the comfort to overflow into us we will be able to pray and have perspective of how to handle the suffering around us and “comfort those in ANY trouble”.

READER 1 let the words sink in and digest

That in all things he may have the pre-eminence

Dictionary meaning, pre eminence – Superior to all or notable above all other outstanding.

That He might have the pre eminence

My blessed lord and King

To the very centre of my life,

To rule over everything

That every thought and every look

and every word and every tone

and every purpose of my heart

Be His and His alone.

IMG_3022In all things the pre eminence

The first and foremost place

To live my daily life within

THe sunshine of his face

To go where He would have me go

Where He would have me stay

To look to Him for His commands

To let Him plan each day

Sweet saviour! teach me now the blessed art

Of choosing every day the better part

Not hurried or disturbed by things around

But resting all my confidence on this sure ground

Thou knows lord

Content to walk in darkness if thou lead

To know that thou supplies all my need

No a bit of good Thou wilt withhold

From those who shelter in the saviours fold

Content to know that over Jordan’s tide

Thy faithful ones shall surely safely ride,

In triumph home

That hidden close ‘neath thy protective wing

Thy weary ones to heaven thou wilt bring.

Can we reflect silently for a minute and then, all say together.
