the debate - Zeb Amardi

Hi Adrian,

Thank God there are people like you who are willing to express the truth about creationism on TV. I believe the heart of the matter is the existence of God or the none existence of Him. Evolution simply denies the existence of God all in the name of Dawinism. Don’t let anyone put you down. God bless you for speaking out for creationism. Satan is happy to see the denial of God’s existence and His omnipotence here on earth.

Zeb

Hi Adrian, thanks for yours

Just keep it at it, we’re not on tv to look good, though it helps! Ha!

We’re there to shed light, and do what Wilberforce and so many others have over many years. Stay with it.

I think it’s difinately right to do these kind of interviews because it creates debate! Can you imagine if everything we heard on the news was one sided? The other thing to point out is that debate creates interest and interest creates viewers, viewers create the schedules. If we are tired of what we see and hear then engagement is the best way to change it. But then you know that because I learnt it from you! Keep up the work mate!

Dear Adrian,

Thank you so much for your video clip and response.  We have trouble coming if pseudoscience and educational child abuse is their perception.  You are quite right, it is an anti-God position primarily.  It must be nearly 20 years since the government of New South Wales, Aust. tried banning the teaching of creation in science lessons.  After some initial fuss and the requisite loop holes and grey areas, determined biblical schools continued without harrassement.  Stephen Franklin made a clear statement on behalf of CEE that our material taught evolution as an unproven theory and presented Creation not merely as a matter of biblical faith but something that could be supported by Science.  The producer had the gall to tell me he had spoken to all of our  schools and they had all said the same thing that they did not teach evolution.  Of course he didn’t reach even a small proportion of our schools and certainly his point was they didn’t teach evolution as a FACT.

We have been hugely encouraged by NARIC’s report on an ACE school in Mauritius that does ICCE that their certificates including the Science courses are equavilent to Cambridge A levels and the lesser certificates to O levels.  These A levels and O levels are in fact superior to our present UK system.

Thank you for your response.  We had a great student convention.

Re: Evolution

You’ve hit the nail on the head there I think. The problem is partly with the sound-bite nature of t.v debate i.e you’ve got to chop a half-hour interview down to 30 seconds - and it’s not you editing the material, coupled with the fact that programme makers’ priorities tend to veer towards ratings rather than information(and I would say sensationalism - cos they’re in a competitive arena!). I mean people do degrees for 3 YEARS and write thesis’ on tiny sub-topics of a major subject, maths, geology etc, so how can you cram the meaning of life - or the question: Does God exist into a small series of t.v ’shows’ - which is what they really are. There should really be a show entitled: ‘Does Richard Dawkins Exist’, hosted by Adrian - cos that’s the only way you’d get ‘redress’.

However, God has dealt with much bigger fish; Nebudcadnezzer, Paul etc and we have all experienced for ourselves who God is and what He has done. There were many who demanded a sign from Jesus and missed it when it came(I will rebuild this temple in 3 days..).

You’re right also to say that ‘Evolutionism’ should be treated as a religion in its own right - I mean you need to have FAITH to go along with it! So, the world is a gazzillion years old(don’t have a problem with that), animals/species have evolved for donkeys years(don’t have a problem with THAT) but if that’s the case where ARE the fossils to prove it? I mean they aren’t there - and they’ve been digging around the GLOBE for over a hundred years. So where are they? The proof of species change, the half bird and half dinosaour etc, I mean there must be MILLIONS of them mustn’t there? Er, no. Unless you count ‘Archioptrix’ which was discredited but still given validation on some web-sites. I mean there aren’t ANY, otherwise it would be front page news everywhere. How many species are there - there’s a lot and they all evolved from ancestors who died and left a fossil - ok mybe a lot were eaten by scavengers or abducted by aliens or something, but there were tons of them so th!
ey must
be everywhere!! Er, apparently not - scientists are still looking for a missing link between apes and humans- good luck guys!

So we’re asked to take a step of faith and believe the postulations of scientists until they can come up with the PROOF.

I’m quite interested in this stuff as you know and there’s a reference to a ‘dinosaur’ in the bible - where exactly eludes me, will have to look it up. But the scripture describes a mighty animal swinging its tail like a cedar tree - sound like a diplodocus to you? This is interesting cos dinosaurs ‘died out’ 65 million years ago and there is NO way humans would have ever had contact with them. Which is amazing considering the amount of folk-law surrounding ‘dragons’ there is in various cultures around the world. I saw a photo of a thousand year old Balian temple with a diplodocus carved into its side and in another, a cave painting depicting dinosaurs. Not to mention the most memorable one for me - the fossilised river-bed in Texas with a dinosaur footprint in it AND that of the human hunting it!! But we never hear this stuff - I mean you just NEVER hear it in the media - what are they frightened of? I thought scientists were supposed to be intellectually honest - ish.

But this is a side issue.

I suppose the question is: What’s the real agenda here? What can we DO if there is no God? No moral mazes and no stuffy, antiquated notions of serving outmoded concepts like love and humility and putting others first etc; let alone the preposterous idea that having a belief or a faith in some kind of ‘deity’ could actually be beneficial, rather than treated as tantamount to mental abuse and something that should be outlawed as soon as possible! These things are seen as outdated and needless resraints. But without them where would these guys steer us? What would the world be like if we abandoned them? A new Rome? Well maybe the roads would be better…

These guys ‘demand’ answers from God but Jesus said that God was pleased to reveal them to the ‘little children’. Nuff said.

Tony Mayer.

Re: Evolution

Hi folks, Thanks for the posts.

It’s an interesting subject. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that I recently read  in “Slavery Now - and Then” (Danny Smith) that… “Charles Darwin developed a theory of evolution which placed Anglo-Saxons, that is, the British, at the top of the evolutionary scale, with Africans as a ‘primitive’ race.” which is quite consistent with Aristotle’s notion that “one race was born to serve another” and had influenced Greek society and consequently other cultures in turn over the years. Clearly, knowledge and intelligence, though they are useful, are poor substitutes for compassion and justice.

My personal opinion is that not all aspects of big-bang and evolution theories are in conflict with Christian faith but, like others here I’m sure, I share the concern that God is being pushed out of our schools and universities.

MORE 4 NEWS - Richard Dawkins - Teachers Channel

All on the Same Subject – Adrian Hawkes Comments

While recently doing a two minute spot for channel More 4 news I thought to myself; actually this piece is only two minutes long, around half an hour of interview edited down to two minutes. In fact, I thought, the subject is quite important, important to our freedom of speech and freedom of thought!  Let me explain.

As I am part of a Christian community that runs 4 independent sector schools I often get asked to do programmes like this, and it is always about the same subject, Evolution.  It’s as though as a Christian and one that believes in the schools that I am involved with, the only thing we ever talk about is Evolution.  Not Maths, English, Computer Science, Social Studies, Citizenship to name but a few, but rather evolution.  Oh I know that this latest programme was because we were at the 150th year anniversary of Charles Darwin’s lecture that started all the talk, but it does seem to go on and on.

An interesting thing about the programme for More 4 news was the gentleman who came on and said, “what we need to understand is that Evolution and its teachings are not an attack on Faith”.

The thing is that each time I go on one of these programmes; I usually get emails, post and the occasional phone call.  The Evolutionists write and tell me what an idiot I am.  The Christians write and nicely tell me I was not strong enough in my presentation and then guide me with literature to better my opinion.  I think that in the middle of it there must be a public that is bemused.

Why am I saying that I think this subject is important? Talking with Richard Dawkins for his programme and listening and reading some his work, I conclude that actually it is not just about Evolution, the big issue is that there is no God, and any thought that there is, is dangerous to society.  Furthermore the attitude seems to be if I can stop people like you, from doing or saying anything to suggest that there is a God, I am going to stop you.

Listening recently to a Radio 4 programme from the Cheltenham Science Festival in Gloucestershire, Professor Peter Atkins stated that as a ‘believer’ in evolution, he had the truth.  The program host asked what he thought about people with whose view is that there is a designer/creator God?  He simply replied that they had some sort of mental problem and could not possibly be scientific much less a proper scientist.

What we really have is a kind of Religion from these proponents, it’s a religion without God and one that propounds with evangelical fever, “there is no God!”  I said that on Mr Dawkin’s program, which I think somewhat annoyed him, but that comment, of course, lies on the cutting room floor.

After one of these TV occasions, I am not sure which one, maybe it was from my time on the teacher’s channel on which I was quizzed on the same subject. I had an email from one of these people that write to me after such occasions.  He basically accused me of being a child abuser for believing that there is a God and teaching children such.

And this is what is so worrying about this particular lobby.  For although the nice man on More 4 news said “this is not an attack on Faith”, nevertheless the people who I found are the vocal lobby for evolution, are the same people who are aligned to the ‘there is no God’ lobby.  So does it matter, in the name of free speech, that they express that opinion?  Perhaps not, providing they allow me the same courtesy of speech and thought; but not if they want to go down some Orwellian state line that prevents me from speaking, or thinking for that matter.

I am not surprised that the TV channels talk to me, I at least will talk, it seems that the Muslim schools were not willing to express their views on the TV, neither were most of the Christian Schools.

I have to say that when I have agreed to go on these programmes, many of my friends phone me and say “do you think this is wise?  They will make you look very stupid!”.  Oh well, maybe I do.  Even if I do, it still worries me when I hear statements like those coming from Professor Peter Atkins, who I think would silence any opposition to his point of view if he could. Then there is Richard Dawkins, who believes that Religion is the root of all evil and should be outlawed, and don’t forget my emailing corrector, who said and I quote “I honestly believe that what you are doing is mental child abuse, and we are working very hard on trying to once and for all outlaw your type of brain-washing propaganda. There is no god. Move on.”

He pointed out to me that he was a BA (hons) MA,

What I notice from all of these people is there is an almost Taliban fervor to marginalized my opinion, keep me silent and make sure I am outlawed!

God help us if they are allowed any kind of legislative power!

SURE24 FEEDING PROGRAMME REPORT ON 31ST MAY 2008.

They say if you want to know how the day will turn out consider how it started.  As usual, volunteers were picked from their various destinations and the turn out was amazing. The 14-seater van was packed as compared to other days when it would be just over half full.

The team arrived at Sure24 at around 10.00 am and got down to business immediately. The children were assembled by one volunteer while the rest had a 10-minute meeting to determine the day’s activities. The children were sent to their various classes afterwards.

For the last three weeks teachers had been covering lessons on prayer and the topic was exhausted on this particular day by having a prayer segment. A tent was pitched up and groups of children would go in and say what they would want to be prayed for and a volunteer would lead them in prayer. While this was going on the rest of the children were having a play session with the rest of the teachers.

The volunteers in the kitchen were busy preparing and cooking food making sure that it will be delicious and enough for every child and volunteer. Thanks be to God for the heart He has given to every volunteer, a servant hood heart serving, loving and taking care of other people’s children, some of the parents of the children who do attend the feeding programme also have started to come and join hand especially in washing the utensils, which is so encouraging.

The children were too many and the 45 minutes assigned for the prayers were not enough. It was agreed that those who were not prayed for would do so the following week. Volunteers realized that the children have so much bottled up inside and for them to open up to them was quite encouraging.

It was evident that the children were jovial after the prayer session. After lunch they went back home and the volunteers had a short thanksgiving service where they thanked the Lord for setting these children free. The volunteers also learnt new songs and at the end of the day, everyone was satisfied and happy that they were part of this successful day of ministry.
