1 Thessalonians
2-5
Every time we think of you, we thank God for you. Day and night you’re in our prayers as we call to mind your work of faith, your labor of love, and your patience of hope in following our Master, Jesus Christ, before God our Father. It is clear to us, friends, that God not only loves you very much but also has put his hand on you for something special. When the Message we preached came to you, it wasn’t just words. Something happened in you. The Holy Spirit put steel in your convictions.

 5-6
You paid careful attention to the way we lived among you, and determined to live that way yourselves. In imitating us, you imitated the Master. Although great trouble accompanied the Word, you were able to take great joy from the Holy Spirit!—taking the trouble with the joy, the joy with the trouble.

7-10
Do you know that all over the provinces of both Tottenham and Wood Green believers look up to you? The word has gotten around. Your lives are echoing the Master’s Word, not only in the provinces but all over the place. The news of your faith in God is out. We don’t even have to say anything anymore—you’re the message!

Most High True Jah My Jesus, your creative power, your glory and holiness were experienced by your people of old as clouds and nokia telephones.

You guided them to freedom. To be free under the fear of Jesus; not the fear of what tall men live by. They believed that no one could see your face and live.

How blessed therefore are we, for you have revealed your face to us in Jesus -
a bloke around a beach fire cooking mackerels.

You may have slightly burnt the mackerel, but that normality was your everlasting legacy. You are our Friend!

You equip us for our journey through this confusing life
and beyond, by breathing new and everlasting life into our very beings, through the gift of you the Holy Spirit.

WOwser! How lucky are we! Holy Spirit Fill Me!

These people of old believed that it was your presence with them which made them a chosen and special
people. We praise and adore you, O God, for making our lives so special, by choosing to share your life with us for 24-7. May this time of worship togetherness reveal our thanksgiving and show you that we want you to be the air that we breath.

This we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen

SOng, poem, Drama or something!

1thess 4

We ask you—urge is more like it—that you keep on doing what we told you to do to please God, not in a dogged religious plod, but in a living, spirited dance. You know the guidelines we laid out for you from the Master Jesus. God wants you to live a pure life. Keep yourselves from sexual promiscuity.

4-5

Learn to appreciate and give dignity to your body, not abusing it, as is so common among those who know nothing of God.

6-7
Don’t run roughshod over the concerns of your brothers and sisters. Their concerns are God’s concerns, and he will take care of them. We’ve warned you about this before. God hasn’t invited us into a disorderly, unkempt life but into something holy and beautiful—as beautiful on the inside as the outside.

8
If you disregard this advice, you’re not offending your neighbors; you’re rejecting God, who is making you a gift of his Holy Spirit.

9-10
Regarding life together and getting along with each other, you don’t need me to tell you what to do. You’re God-taught in these matters. Just love one another! You’re already good at it; your facebook page is the evidence. Keep it up; get better and better at it.

11-12
Stay calm; mind your own business; do your own job. You’ve heard all this from us before, but a reminder never hurts. We want you living in a way that will command the respect of outsiders, not lying around sponging off your friends.

Unconditional Loving God, it is with thankful hearts that we acknowledge that the major marks of Jesus’ ministry were love, compassion and mercy. If we are to imitate Jesus as the Thessalonians did, then these marks will be clearly visible in our lives.

Forgive us when we judge one another to our own expectations and blame it on cultural differences. Forgive us when we cant get into our oblivious skulls that people think different to us,
We confess that even with the knowledge that we have been loved so much, we have not yet learned to love as Jesus did.

Forgive us therefore, when our lives are marked with
values and attitudes which fall far short of Jesus
We confess that even with the knowledge that we have been loved so much, we have not yet learned to love as Jesus did.

Forgive us when we substitute ideas and words about love for its practice, and then find ourselves wondering what is missing in our lives.
We confess that even with the knowledge that we have been loved so much, we have not yet learned to love as Jesus did.

Jesus demonstrated how deeply his life was marked with compassion through his willingness to enter into the pain of others and share their
suffering – even at cost to himself.
We confess that even with the knowledge that we have been cared for so compassionately we have not yet learned to care as Jesus did.

Jesus looked on the faults of others with merciful eyes and demonstrated that forgiveness is one of the most precious gifts we can offer one another.
We confess that even with the knowledge that we have been forgiven so much we have not yet learned to forgive as Jesus did.

Jesus spoke mercy; lived love; embodied compassion and was cool .
We pray, O God, that these qualities which so marked Jesus’ life will be impressed on our lives and our witness so that we do not just imitate his life, we live it. This we pray. Amen

SOng, poem, Drama or something!

1 Thessalonians 5

1-3
I don’t think, friends, that I need to deal with the question of when all this is going to happen. You know as well as I that the day of the Master’s coming can’t be posted on our calendars. He won’t call ahead and make an appointment any more than a burglar would. About the time everybody’s walking around complacently, congratulating each other—”We’ve sure got it made! Now we can take it easy!”—suddenly everything will fall apart. It’s going to come as suddenly and inescapably as birth pangs to a pregnant woman.

4-8
But friends, you’re not in the dark, so how could you be taken off guard by any of this? You’re sons of Light, daughters of Day. We live under wide open skies and know where we stand. So let’s not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let’s keep our eyes open and be smart. People sleep at night and get drunk at night. But not us! Since we’re creatures of Day, let’s act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation.

9-11
God didn’t set us up for an angry rejection but for salvation by our Master, Jesus Christ. He died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we’re awake with the living or asleep with the dead, we’re alive with him! So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.

13-15
Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part. Our counsel is that you warn the freeloaders to get a move on. Gently encourage the stragglers, and reach out for the exhausted, pulling them to their feet. Be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other’s nerves you don’t snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out.

16-18Be cheerful no matter what; pray all the time; thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.

19-22Don’t suppress the Spirit, and don’t stifle those who have a word from the Master. On the other hand, don’t be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what’s good. Throw out anything tainted with evil..

23-24May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ. The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!Make sure this letter gets read to all the brothers and sisters. Don’t leave anyone out. 28The amazing grace of Jesus Christ be with you!

Get everybody to text someone a word of encouragement while this video is played!!!

SOng, poem, Drama or something!

When our thoughtless criticism stifles the creativity of others,

Lord, have mercy

When we keep a tight hold on power and deny others the chance to participate.
Christ, have mercy

When we prefer the safety of our holy huddle to the wideness of God’s world.
Christ, have mercy

When we decline to take risks for fear that we might fail.
Lord, have mercy

But when we praise the gifts of others,
share the power that we are given,
engage with communities beyond the boundaries of our comfort, and risk everything we have for the sake of others,

Gracious God, you stamped your love upon this world forever when you chose to enter it in Jesus Christ. In thanksgiving for such love, we offer these gifts and the witness of our lives as we dedicate ourselves anew to
making your love visible through all we say and do in your name and in the power of your unstoppable Spirit.

then, God rejoices in us.Almighty God,

who forgives all who truly repent,
Have mercy upon us,
pardon and deliver us from all our sins,
confirm and strengthen us is all goodness,
and keep us in life eternal,
through Jesus Christ The King of Kings who kicks ass

Amen

It’s been a little while since I’ve sent out a personal update as we have been insanely busy, and I was sitting here with my first spare evening in ages, thinking about everything the band has been doing recently and felt I had to write because I feel so overwhelmed by God’s love – if I don’t share it, I’m gonna burst. I’m so excited to see God at work. It blows my mind every day. Over the last few months, we’ve had the privelege of speaking about God’s love to thousands of young people. I know how blessed I am to be in this position, and I don’t take it for granted for a second.

When I write my personal updates, I never feel inclined to roll off a bunch of information about what’s been going on as such, as our official newsletter covers all that. I just feel like I need to write whatever I feel on my heart.

I’ve been thinking about MaLoKai – where it all started, and where God has brought it all to so far. Some of the times have been real tough. They’ve been such a struggle. I first had the vision for MaLoKai when I was about 15. It wasn’t until I was 20 that God brought it together. It took years of praying, dreaming, hoping, and believeing that what was on my heart was for real. Many people told me to concentrate on others things – that it was all ‘pie in the sky’, but something in me knew that this wasn’t something to let go of. When the band kicked off for the first time in September ’07, I thought I’d made it! I thought the waiting was over, and it was all going to fall into place from then on. Little did I know! I have seen so many members come and go over the last 4 years. At times it hurt, sometimes it still does. It would be so easy for me to let these feeling eat me up inside. Letting it all go is something I have to make a concious effort to do. It’s hard. I’m sure you can relate to this in some way. The enemy would love for me to let it blur my vision and lose focus of what God has in front of me, but when I think of all that God has done through the band over the years, I realise it is all so worth it. It is worth every ounce of pain or hardship I’ve had to go though to get here. I have learnt so much through it. Of course, I know there are people out there who are or have been through much harder stuff than I have, but the point I’m trying to make is that the lesson to be learnt is still the same. MaLoKai still doesn’t have a full lineup, and sometimes, I wonder if it ever will. Does it even need to? I mean, yeah, it would be really nice just for once to be able to play as a full band, but has it stopped the band doing it’s job? No! In fact, it has been so uncomfortable at times that we have had no choice but to fully rely on God. Even now, we’re playing mainly as a three-piece and having to do the job of a five-piece, which makes it very hard, and a real slog, but God just does his thing. We’re not here to ‘perform for ourselves’ we’re here to bring a message, and we don’t need to be a five-piece to share God’s love.

Over the last few months things have been pretty crazy – we had a nightmare recording our record – we lost loads of hours, the battery went on our van, our bassist – G left, the alternator bust on the van, our second guitarist – Dack had to take some time out, our lead guitarist – Andy had to miss an important show, I, along with my whole family got sick as a dog, and this is just some of the stuff I can think of off the top of my head! I dread to think how many things there would be if I wrote them down. And through all this, we never had enough money in the bank…but everything got covered!

But look what else…with all this stuff happening around us, we released a new record, played on a secular tour, went into 6 schools, played a few youth clubs and spoke at a bunch of churches. Our new record has been reviewed in some of the major secular rock magazines, and is getting great press, our music video is being regularly played on Kerrang TV, and people are loving the fact that we have a positive message. We’ve also started a daily online broadcast to desciple young Christians (or those who would like to know more about this life), planned return visits and alpha courses that are about to start in some of the schools we’ve been into, and in a few months, we are going to our first baptism where those who got saved through our work are to be baptised – they’re already queuing up for it! Nuts!!!

So, my point?

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance” Romans 5:3.

I’m so excited when I think about how much God loves us – how much he wants to be our Father. A Father who wants to teach his kids how to live. Be encouraged. You have dreams, you have things in your heart – things you want to do. God put them there!! Haha! Go for it! Never too young, or too old.

Big love to to you, and thank you so much for all your support. Though we may not see each other often, you really are a part of this work and a huge part of my life – or I should say our lives (my wife and kids – who are very well by the way! Oh, and our dog, Hooch!)

Stories will be in much more detail on the official newsletter in a couple of weeks.

Love ya!

Hey!

God is amazing. Simple as. I’ve experienced him provide time after time since stepping out in faith and going full time with MaLoKai and Project Unbroken, yet it blows me away every time. Being on this journey with God is exciting, rewarding, mind blowing, and believe it or not, a lot of the time it can be really frustrating too. But, through the frustration, God works. He works on our hearts, our attitudes and often so much more than we know. It’s only down the line that we think to ourslves – “oh I see, that’s what that was for” and “I’m glad I learned that then”. It’s never in the moment that we’re thankful!

As you’ve probably read in our band updates, God has done some amazing things through the band. I’m seeing teens respond to Jesus so much more than I ever have through our work, and it’s so humbling when they do. It’s incredible to stand there – on stage in front of all these teens and watch God work. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen around 150 turn to Christ, and the more we get opportunity to keep going, the more exciting it gets. But, as I said earlier, it doesn’t come without it’s frustrations. When you jump in deep and say “God, send me, I’ll do it”, the enemy for sure wants to bring you down. Often people see what we do, and assume that it’s “all gravy baby”, that we’re sorted and it’s butterflies and rainbows, but it most certainlty isn’t. The reason I say this is because you receive this newsletter because you either support Liz and I, and the ministry in either prayer and/or finance and we very much see you as a part of it. Without you, we couldn’t do this, so we want you to know that you walk with us through all that we go through, so you too can be excited and encouraged as we are. No matter what the trial be – whether it’s finance, getting shows, building new relationships (or keeping the ones we have) – to name an obvious few, God always shines through if we persevere.

Stories…

A really simple example of God’s provision is our financial state (Liz and I). We don’t have enough income to pay our bills each month, let alone do anything else and travel all over the place, yet every month things are covered. God always provides. I don’t believe it will be like this forever, but He’s teaching us to be faithful with what we have. I believe eventually we’ll have more financial support and things wiill begin to grow and move further and faster than we imagine. There have been so many times where God has provided what we need the day we need it, or even hours before, and it’s always exactly what we need. A few weeks ago, we had to travel over 200 miles to get home with not enough fuel in the car, and not enough money in our bank to pay the rent the next day, let alone fill up, so we just hit the road with what was in the tank, and prayed. 80 miles from home and we were on the last drops, and we kept going. 50 miles from home and the clock is completely zero’d out. We’d already been pushing it, and so I began to panic a little but I had no choice, there was nothing to spare. So, we kept going, and going, untill eventually we got home. It doesn’t really make sense, but that’s faith. The next day, I logged into the bank to look at what the deal was, and there was enough money to pay the rent. God is amazing. That’s just one small story, and things like this happen all the time. Whether it’s God providing just enough money to cover the bills, or just enough food in the cupboard to last till we can get more, we never go without. It’s humbling. As I said, it won’t always be this way, but if we can’t be faithful with little, how can we ever be faithful with a lot?

If you receive this I’d love to hear back from you. Just hit reply. Sometimes it can feel like a bit of a lonely journey, so it’s so nice to hear back from others. It also helps us to know that you do read it! A bit of encouragement goes so far

If you’d like to support us in finance as well as prayer, then we would most certainly welcome it! Haha! If so, you can click here to download a form and fill it in. If it is specifically for Liz and I, tick the box that says “for the support of” and write ‘Alex Greig’ next to it. If it’s for the general work of Project Unbroken, you can leave it blank, and it will default to general funds.

Thanks so much.

Prayer…
God has been putting some stuff on my heart for the future of the band, he’s stirring up something in us all really, but at the same time it’s scary. We want to be obedient to his call, no matter what, but sometime’s things can seem so huge, you know? If he is for us, who can be against us though, right? Please pray that we continue to be obedient, and that we are willing to step out no matter how we’re feeling. Pray that we are open to His call, and never just thinking of ourselves.

Christmas is coming, fast. I’m busy in another school next week, and can’t wait. Liz is busy, doing the mum thing. Nate – our youngest has some problems with his neck, so Liz is back and forth with him to different appointments etc, so your prayers for him would be much appreciated! He’s another little dude. 2 soliders for the Kingdom, babay!!

Please pray for more confidence for us all when talking about finance. It’s often a hard thing to talk about and to ask people for money, but it’s what we need to make this work – both on a personal level, as well as with the band, and charity. I’m beginning to talk with other possible artists who could become a part of Project Unbroken to further the work, but this is going to cost. We’re also looking at how we can best disciple those who respond at out shows and we are beginning to send out different bits of literature to each of them to help them get started, as well as looking at the possiblity of doing a daily internet broadcast to help teens through issues, and with their relationships with God and others. So as you can imagine – it all costs money, so we’re believing for more partners!

Thanks you for taking the time to read this and be a part of our journey. Blessings to y’all!

Much Love, Liz and Alex
